Why is there both ball valve and shock absorber in the suspension system?
The ball valve, located between the connecting rod and the frame, is used to support the weight of the body, and can play a buffer role when the wheels pass through uneven obstacles. There are many kinds of it, including spiral type, steel plate type, torsion bar type, etc.
However, although the ball valve can absorb the impact force of the road surface, when the car runs on uneven roads, the ball valve will return to its original shape after being impacted and deformed by the road surface, and will not stop vibrating immediately. In this way, the car will be soft and unstable when driving, just like walking after drinking, which will affect the stability of the car. Therefore, shock absorber should be used in suspension to restrain the oscillation of ball valve, and appropriate resistance should be applied to the up and down movement of suspension to reduce the vibration and absorb part of the impact of road surface.
Hydraulic shock absorbers are widely used in automobile suspension systems. Its structure is that the piston rod with piston is inserted into the shock absorber cylinder, and the cylinder is filled with oil. There is an orifice on the piston. When the shock absorber is compressed and retracted, the piston rod will move back and forth in the shock absorber cylinder, and the oil in the shock absorber will flow from the inner cavity to another cavity through the orifice repeatedly, thus generating a certain damping force.
