Many media must be transported through pipelines at a certain temperature. If the heat loss of exposed pipelines is certain to be large during long-distance transportation, the media will be vaporized. If some media solidify and fail, insulation valves must be used. For example, in the pipeline for adding catalyst to petroleum cracking, hard sealed insulation pneumatic ball valves are used to ensure that the catalyst does not solidify.

According to different process equipment, pneumatic or electric actuators can be selected to form pneumatic ball valves and electric ball valves respectively. Pneumatic ball valves must be equipped with valve positioners to achieve proportional adjustment, and electric ball valves must be equipped with electronic electric actuators or servo amplifiers to achieve proportional adjustment.
